Portfolio Color Scheme Update

The color scheme of my portfolio was feeling stale. I had just revised the layout of the site and added all of my recent projects, but it was still missing something.

To start off getting an idea of what colors I wanted to incorporate in the site I started by gathering images who's colors I thought would work well. Creating a collage of of these images and puling common colors helped me refine what I was picturing for my website.

Once I knew what colors I was going to be working with, I started sketching out how I could best have those colors integrated into my portfolio. Once I had the sketches I got an initial round of feedback on which use of color people preferred.

I found that the feedback I received mirrored my own preference, for the green background and the peach header, so I began translating it on to my digital portfolio.

When I first translated the color scheme from paper to the web, I found that I did not like it nearly as much. Going back to my collage, I realized that part of what made the colors I chose really pop to me were the textures they had. To add that factor to my portfolio I layered a close up image of cracked marble under the shade of green to create the look reminiscent of the texture of the green plants and stone that had originally inspired me.
