This space is a re-imagined design of the Gould Hall Exhibit Space and the classroom space below removed it from the context of the building. Two sections of floor have been removed from the space, to create openness and minor connection between the floors. A long straight stair was added ‘outside’ to allow people to move freely between the spaces. The choice to have the stair outside the interior of the space was made to both preserve the unobstructed interior space and to preserve some of the division and disconnection between the two areas. The choice to make the stair straight and perpendicular to the entrances was to give the space a dramatic and static introduction. A wall change was made with the addition of a window on one of the short walls to bring more light into the lower level and to highlight a potential view. A number of very minor wall changes were made and the removal of a number of doors and the addition of railings were made to adapt the space to the more dramatic changes that were made.
