My younger brother reached out to me and asked for my help in designing a cohesive logo system for his high school competitive gaming team. We brainstormed many initial ideas for the logo, all based on the symbolism associated with Seattle, mainly the rain and the city skyline. This project was done over a long weekend and had many rounds of iteration with input from the gaming team members on each version.
Below are a number of iterations of the overall design and the incorporation of the team member's individual colors
First draft:
I placed the name unaligned from the cloud to give the appearance of rain.
Second draft:
I moved the team name onto the cloud for better legibility and reshaped the space needle
Third draft:
I adjusted the cloud to be a more vibrant shade of blue.
Fourth draft:
I moved the team name onto the cloud for better legibility and reshaped the space needle
Final:
I changed the font and capitalization of the team name.
Team Member Logos
Each team member has their own gamer tag and color that we wanted to incorporate in individual versions of the logo.
First draft:
Initially, the color differentiation is done with recoloring the raindrop, but I thought it lost some of the rain imagery.
Second draft:
I switched the color to the rain cloud but left the banner the light grey, but this felt unbalanced.
Third draft:
To balance the color distribution more I changed the banner color to match the clouds.
Final:
I adjusted the font of the team member's name to match the team name.
